Benton Engineer Recognized for Road Improvement Project

Benton County has been recognized for its innovative construction work in Sauk Rapids! County engineer Chris Byrd won the 2017 Project of the Year Award from the Minnesota County Engineers Association. The “Up the Hill” project made major improvements to 2nd Street North, making it easier to travel between residential and commercial areas of the city.
The road was widened to four lanes as a way to reduce traffic congestion. And the area is much safer with the addition of a sidewalk. The community can also now enjoy a 10-foot wide bike path on one side of the street. Click here for more on the Project of the Year.
