At Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. (BEP), our dedicated staff and board of directors work tirelessly to attract new industries, support business growth, and foster workforce development, all while enhancing the quality of life for our community’s residents. This collaborative effort brings together passionate representatives from the local school district, banks, private companies, city, township and county agencies.

“Serving on our board is often a behind-the-scenes role that doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves,” says Amanda Othoudt, Executive Director of BEP. “Yet, each board member brings a unique perspective and a deep commitment to nurturing growth in their neighborhoods. The resources, insights, and ideas they share are absolutely vital to the success of everything we accomplish together.”

Get to know the dedicated individuals who make up the Benton Economic Partnership board of directors. Each brings a unique story and a passion for giving back to the community.. Here are some of their stories and experiences giving back to the community.

Sandra Saldana, CFO of Saldana Excavating and Aggregates

What inspired you to serve on the board of Benton Economic Partnership, Inc.?

I truly believe in giving back to the community. It is our responsibility to make this world a better place for future generations. Saldana Excavating & Aggregates Inc. is a founding member of this organization, and I have been involved since the inception of the Benton Economic Partnership. This organization consists of wonderful people who truly care about our county and the future of Benton County. 

How do you see Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. changing the community?

I see more involvement from businesses and residents within the county. People seem to be more engaged and involved in what is happening in Benton County. I think businesses feel like they have an organization they can go to for help and questions. 

Why is Benton County the best place to live or work?

It is in the "heart" of central Minnesota. We have a great combination of small and large businesses, booming agriculture, great school districts, along with people who demonstrate good work ethics and core values.

What inspired you to serve on the board of Benton Economic Partnership, Inc.?

Our family has been in Benton County for over 100 years, and we have enjoyed the community and culture, and want to give back. Economic development is key to the viability of our businesses, government, schools, and churches. So in 2016, we decided to form this partnership between the business community, schools, and the government to work together to build a better community for the next generations. I want to inspire others to give some time and treasure for the betterment of all.

How do you see Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. changing the community?

BEP brings together the various groups operating in our community. The goal is to share information and opportunities so we can all develop a vision and execute the vision to improve our community into a place that we all can be proud of.

Why is Benton County the best place to live or work?

Because of the culture. The people in Benton County work hard, respect each other, and have a culture of trustworthiness. Their deeds match their words and are generous in spirit and in the way they live their lives.

What inspired you to serve on the board of Benton Economic Partnership, Inc.?

I was interested to see how economic development affected both rural and urban communities. Because Benton County has a good mix of both, I was curious to see how and where development was rooted.

How do you see Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. changing the community?

I think the easiest changes you can see are the ones you notice by simply driving down the road.  Redevelopment and new business development change the landscape with new buildings, new storefronts, new roads, etc. BEP does a lot to facilitate these changes.

Why is Benton County the best place to live or work?

Benton County is a great place to live and work because it combines a strong, diverse economy with the charm and safety of a close-knit community. With excellent schools, affordable living, and easy access to outdoor recreation and nearby cities, it offers a high quality of life for families and professionals alike.

What inspired you to serve on the board of Benton Economic Partnership, Inc.?

I joined because of the organization's true desire to get to know, understand, and support all businesses in the county.

How do you see Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. changing the community?

I see BEP playing a big role by bringing in new jobs, investments, and resources, leading to improved infrastructure, better services, and a stronger local economy.

Why is Benton County the best place to live or work?

Benton County has a unique blend of big city amenities, small town feels, and a rich agricultural footprint, currently with the right visionaries and support of the people to constantly find ways to improve and grow while staying true to its history.

What inspired you to serve on the board of Benton Economic Partnership, Inc.?

I was inspired to join the board to make connections and develop partnerships with businesses in Benton County.

How do you see Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. changing the community?

I believe that BEP is changing the community by enhancing and supporting the local communities in Benton County. They are instrumental in forming partnerships and providing expansion opportunities for businesses.

Why is Benton County the best place to live or work?

Benton County is centrally located to many great activities- you are close to the metro as well as Lake Country.

What inspired you to serve on the board of Benton Economic Partnership, Inc.?

We are a community bank headquartered in Benton County, and having a good economic development effort in place, either directly or indirectly, helps us be successful.

How do you see Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. changing the community?

We are recruiting new businesses and doing what we can to retain existing businesses.

Why is Benton County the best place to live or work?

Benton County's geographic location, workforce, affordable living, educational facilities nearby, and pro-business attitude make it stand out.

What inspired you to serve on the board of Benton Economic Partnership, Inc.?

I serve as a municipality representative on the BEP board. 

How do you see Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. changing the community?

We market Benton County's existing businesses and attract further investment. We connect businesses with leveraged resources to expand and grow.

Why is Benton County the best place to live or work?

Benton County is centrally located near major Midwest markets and has a strong workforce.

To help promote Benton County in the business community. Locally, statewide, and nationally.

How do you see Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. changing the community?

BEP has been instrumental in supporting existing businesses in their growth plans. They have also been proactive in promoting growth in all of the cities and outlying areas in both residential and business communities. 

Why is Benton County the best place to live or work?

We are centrally located, halfway between the Twin Cities metro area and the Northwoods. We have great infrastructure, affordable land, and a solid workforce.

I thought I had the right skills to assist the community.

How do you see Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. changing the community?

Our organization enhances business relationships and grows the business community.

It is in a great location in the state, and there are several opportunities for development.

Jake Bauerly twisted my arm a long time ago, but I liked the concept of the Benton Economic Partnership being a public-private organization. It is the best of both worlds.

How do you see Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. changing the community?

BEP makes a real difference in our community by supporting businesses of every size, from small local shops to large commercial enterprises. Its mission goes beyond economic growth; it's about building a stronger, more prosperous Benton County for everyone.

Through grassroots efforts and a genuine commitment to progress, BEP works closely with business owners, community leaders, and residents to create opportunities and highlight our area's unique strengths. Whether it’s helping a new entrepreneur get started or attracting investment that benefits the whole county, the Benton Economic Partnership is driving positive change every day. Benton County is unique because it is centrally located in the region. Within an hour, south you have the metro, and within an hour, north you have the beautiful outdoors, and great lakes.
