Foley, MN - Benton Economic Partnership, Inc., is pleased to announce that Northern Hollow Winery, LLC has broken ground in the Orderly Annexation area of Gilmanton Township, just outside of the city limits of Foley, MN in Benton County. This event marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our local community.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 29, 2024, and was attended by Benton County Commissioners, City of Foley Councilmembers, Gilmanton Township, the Joint Planning Board, and other community members who were excited to support James and Deanna Truehart and his family. This project received financial support from Frandsen Bank of Foley, the Initiative Foundation, and Benton Economic Partnership, Inc.
Northern Hollow Winery is a family-owned winery. Truehart’s love for winemaking started from a Christmas present his wife gave him over 20 years ago. His first batch of wine was undrinkable, but it only improved with lots of trial and error. The wine that is made today is a multi-award winning and will be soon available right here in Benton County. Truehart has won awards from the International Cold Climate Wine Competitions and was the first winery to win the Governor’s Cup (1st Place) two years in a row (2017 & 2018). He has demonstrated the ability to make both quality and quantities of multiple wine varieties.
Northern Hollow Winery plans to build a 10,000-square-foot facility where it will have room for production, private events, wine tasting, business events, and a venue for weddings. Their kitchen will be serving wood-fired pizza and other foods that will complement the wines that they serve.
Welcoming Northern Hollow Winery in Benton County will bring people together from all over the world. This project will also encourage new economic growth in our local community.
“We are excited to grow here in Benton County and bring our wine to our home community,” said James Trueheart, Owner of Northern Hollow Winery, LLC.
“Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. is excited to support Northern Hollow Winery by hosting our Quarterly Membership meetings here in the Foley area. This is a positive start to new growth in our community.” Sandra Saldana, President of Benton Economic Partnership, Inc.
“Benton County is excited that Northern Hollow has chosen to relocate their business here in the Foley area. I believe we are well positioned to offer support to James and Deanna. Benton Economic Partnership Inc., the City of Foley, and all of the others have worked hard to bring this to reality.” Scott Johnson, District 1 Benton County Commissioner.
“Northern Hollow Winery will be a great asset to not only Foley but also Benton County. Having an award-winning business relocate to our area is a huge win for our county. Congratulations to Jim, Deanna, and family on the groundbreaking, and thank you Amanda at Benton Economic Partnership, Inc. for your perseverance in putting the deal together!” Kevin Johnson, Vice President of Benton Economic Partnership, Inc.
